Yes, we did it. We installed a yellow brick road in a child’s room for a client of ours.
We used pine planks to simulate the look and texture of the bricks and a custom stain for the rest. When the job was done, the design went up the wall and out the window in the boy’s bedroom. It was probably the most challenging floor design we have ever done and there will never be another one like it. In another part of her house, we also did multi-colored footprints on her staircase.
This closeup shows the detail that each “brick” is a separate inlaid piece of pine.
